What We Believe

 What We Believe

DCF accepts the Scriptures as the revealed Will of God and the all sufficient rule of faith and practice. DCF adopts these Statements of Fundamental Truths and Doctrine.

The Scriptures Inspired

The Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct. The Word of God is superior to conscious and reason. (II Tim. 3:15-17; I Peter 1:23-25; Heb. 4:12)

God the Father

We believe in God, the Author and Creator of all things and First person of the Godhead. The Old Testament reveals God in many distinct manners, by manifesting his nature, character, and power. The New Testament gives us knowledge of God the Father, showing the relationship of God to Jesus or representing Him as the Father in the Godhead, and Jesus himself as his Son (St. John 15:8, 14:20).

Jesus the Son of God

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Second person of the Triune Godhead. We believe that Jesus was and is eternal in his person and nature as the Son of God who was with God in the beginning of creation (St. John 1:1). We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin (St. Matthew 1:18), We believe that Jesus Christ died for the sins of mankind and through his death redeemed man from death and reconciled him back to God, his Father (Romans 5:10). We believe that Jesus Christ is standing now as an intercessor between God and man (I Timothy 2:5).

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Triune Godhead. The Holy Spirit was promised to believers by Christ upon his ascension, the Holy Spirit is of the same power and glory as the Father and Son. The Holy Spirit is to be believed in, obeyed, and worshipped. The Holy Spirit is a gift bestowed upon the believer for the purpose of equipping, empowering the believer, teaches and guides one into all truth (John 16:13; Acts 1:8, 8:39).

The One True Godhead

The triune Godhead is comprised of three (3) separate and distinct personalities. The Father; the Son; and the Holy Spirit are eternally self existent and self revealed which functions as one entity. Jesus Christ who is God manifested in the flesh is the second member of the Godhead. Jesus Christ is co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Man, His Fall and Redemption

Man was created good and upright for God said, “Let us make man in our image”. Man by his voluntary transgression fell and his only hope of redemption is in Jesus Christ the Son of God. (Genesis 1:26-31, 3:1-7; Romans 5:12-21).

The Salvation of Man

Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus died for the sins of all mankind and therefore provides an opportunity for anyone to be reconciled to God. Justification by grace through faith makes redemption possible. Redemption is a sovereign act of God and cannot be reversed. (Romans 10:8-10)

Baptism in Water

The ordinance of baptism is a symbolic burial with Christ and should be observed as commanded in scripture by all who have accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. Baptism is a public declaration of identifying with Christ. In so doing, the believer says “I am dead to my old life, buried with Christ, and raised to walk in newness of life.” (Romans 6:3-4)

The Lord’s Supper

The ordinance of the Lord’s supper, also known as communion should be observed by believers as a remembrance concerning the broken body and shed blood of Jesus Christ. This is to be done in faith until his return. (1 Corinthians 11:23-30)

Foot Washing

Foot washing is practiced and recognized as an ordinance in our Church body. Christ by his example showed his humility and service to others. Christ showed that humility characterized greatness in the Kingdom of God and service given to others in love has importance. Foot washing services are held at the discretion of the Pastor in charge.

The Promise of the Father

The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a divine act and is not an experience. God places us in the body of Christ (the church) as it pleases Him.

The Evidence of being alive in the Spirit

The power to live holy in this present world is the greatest evidence of life in the Spirit. We are also told that we will know them by their fruit. Consequently, the fruit of the Spirit is also evidence of life in the Spirit.

The Church

Christ is the head of the church. The church consists of each one who has accepted Jesus Christ in the entire world.

Total Prosperity

The bible teaches us that godliness with contentment is great gain. Also, the will of God is that we prosper as our soul prospers. Spiritual prosperity is impossible to measure in earthly standards.

Scriptural Conduct

The bible is accepted as God-breathed and the only profitable guide for holy character in both Christian and secular circles.

The Future

The scripture speaks of an eternal future for all mankind.  Believers are promised the blessed hope of living with God in heaven. Unbelievers will be sentenced to suffer eternally in the lake of fire.
